Do it Yourself

There are several things out there that I would love a chance to own. For example, a standing desk that will cover an entire wall with some added features; a bookshelf that will fit perfectly in an awkwardly sized area, or even a place to organize my dress shirts and other things for that room that doesn’t have a closet. Buying customized things for your home can be expensive and at times it may not be what you truly wanted. The next best thing to do is to simply build it yourself.

Most people would say that they don’t have the time or even capability to do these projects. The supplies themselves could end up costing the same amount as a full purchased one from a store. But what people fail to realize is that they are doable, even if you’ve never built anything in your entire life. The trick is to be creative.

That’s where homemade-modern.com comes in. This website has so many creatives do it yourself ideas. Each project has an estimated cost and price. That standing desk that I want would cost me $185 with 3 hours of my time. The directions are simple and the suggested materials are something I would have never considered. For example, they suggest using black iron pipes for the legs. It sounds crazy, but it actually looks great!

The only issue I have with the website is that, despite suggesting the tools and giving the links of where to purchase them, they aren’t the best. I suppose that’s for the cost efficient person, but I would suggest buying something that’s a bit more expensive that will last you much longer.

Give the website a try and maybe there’s something you’ll be motivated to try.
