Bike Sundays return this fall and will take place on September 11, 18, 25 and October 2. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. m. to 2 p.m. m. on the Bronx River Parkway.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer said that as summer winds down and back-to-school schedules start to fill up, Bike Sundays are a great way for families to take time to be together while participating in a healthy activity.
Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation Commissioner Kathy O’Connor said she is excited for the return of Bike Sundays and for residents to enjoy the outdoors on the Bronx River Parkway while taking in the colorful fall foliage.
“Bicycle Sundays is a great way to promote a healthy outdoor lifestyle this fall,” said Westchester Parks Foundation President Seth Mandelbaum.
We thank NewYork-Presbyterian, Con Edison and BJ’s Wholesale Club for their continued support and commitment to parks and open space. WPF looks forward to engaging with community members each week to help preserve, protect and enhance Westchester County parks for future generations, he added.
Closures
During Bike Sundays, a portion of the Bronx River Parkway is closed to cars for the exclusive use of bicyclists, joggers, walkers, skateboarders, and strollers.
The route
The route runs from Westchester County Center in White Plains, south to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers, a 13.1-mile round trip. There are many entry and exit points along the way.
