White Plains
The City of White Plains Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to join the walk in Bryant-Mamaroneck Park, which will explore Alexandra Penfold’s book All Are Welcome.
It is a story of children during a day at their school, where everyone is welcomed with open arms. A school where children in patkas, hijabs and yarmulkes play side by side with friends in baseball caps. A school where students grow and learn from each other’s traditions and the whole community comes together to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Everyone is welcome sends a message to children that no matter what happens, they have a place, they have a space and they are welcome in their school.
StoryWalk, a partnership between the City of White Plains Parks and Recreation Department and the White Plains Public Library, combines a children’s story with a popular walking route.
This event is a great way to inspire parents, teachers, and caregivers to take young children for a ride and introduce them to a new book at the same time.
This StoryWalk (reading walk) will run until October 11th.
Look for updates on the stories to be read on the Department of Parks and Recreation website.
