The White Plains Puerto Rican Cultural Committee (The White Plains Puerto Rican Cultural Committee) together with the November Committee, invite the public to attend their First Annual Puerto Rican Artisan Fair Event, to be held on Saturday, December 17, at the Public Library of White Plains, at 100 Martine Avenue, 2nd. Floor, White Plains, NY 10601, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free.
“This is a free community event co-sponsored by the November Committee and the Puerto Rican Institute for the Development of the Art (PRIDA), in order to disseminate the artistic work of artisans and book authors from the Puerto Rican community,” said Evelyn Santiago. , president of the White Plains Puerto Rican Cultural Committee.
Among the artists who will exhibit their work and will be present at the Fair is Héctor Cotza, a sculptor who creates 3D woodwork, using vibrant colors and themes of cultural connection to his Puerto Rican roots.
The 54-year-old artist, who is also a veteran, has become famous for his work being sold at a Las Vegas gallery, at various fairs in the tri-state area and in New York’s El Barrio.
In White Plains, 15 Puerto Rican artists will participate, offering the public the opportunity to learn about the art of the Isla del Encanto.
The Puerto Rican Institute for the Development of the Arts, represented by its president Raesha Cartagena, in association with the November Committee, chaired by Teresa Santiago, will be present at this event that is part of the community cultural outreach program of the November Committee and its affiliated organizations such as the White Plains Puerto Rican Cultural Committee, as explained by the head of this institution, Evelyn Santiago, who is also a member of the board of directors of the Hispanic Democrats of Westchester.
