Peekskill councilor Ramón Fernández will not be running for mayor and decided to suspend his exploration process that he had started for this position.
Originally Fernández explained that he was scouting for that position, but if he was not nominated by the Peekskill Democratic Party to be their mayoral candidate, he would not pursue his run.
“I believe it is in the best interest of our city, the spirit of unity and my democratic values, I support and endorse the re-election of Mayor Vivian McKenzie,” said Council Member Fernández.
The Peekskill Democratic Party and its nominating committee decided to nominate Mayor McKenzie for her re-election to office in the November election of this year.
The councilor of Dominican origin is very popular with the electorate of his city and collaborates daily in community activities. His current term on the City Council will run until 2025.
