Westchester County Legislature District 11 comprises a large multicultural community, and for this it needs to be represented by a person who has experience and above all a passion for helping people.
For this reason, Ximena Francella has decided to run for the legislature for this district and for this she has the support of Hispanic, Anglo-Saxon, African-American, religious, and sports community groups, among others.
The District that includes New Rochelle, Pelham and Pelham Manor, will have a Democratic primary next June, and the elections will be in November of this year. The possibilities of the candidate of Ecuadorian origin are wide. It should be noted that, in the case of New Rochelle, where she resides, they are part of District 11, municipal districts 1, 2 and part of district 3.
“The district has a strong Latino community, the African American community is strong, as well as the Anglo community. I am lucky to be in contact with the entire community, whom I have helped. I have been a volunteer for several years and I love my community,” said Francella during her interview with Westchester Hispano.
Among the issues of concern for the Hispanic candidate is security, for which she has been participating in community meetings in order to learn about her needs.
“Something that is being done effectively is community meetings with the police, neighbors and business owners to see what measures can be taken. For example, we have a committee in my area to be in communication with neighbors and associations, and we have good relations with the police, ”she said.
She explained the importance of a good legislator who cares about achieving the necessary budget for the District, naming New Rochelle and Pelham among the areas that due to their new construction of housing buildings need more budget for security.
“We have new housing projects, we need more police, more firefighters and more services. And I am going to advocate for more funding for these services in the Legislature,” she said.
As a member of the Westchester County Housing Planning Board, Francella has extensive knowledge of the new construction process, which allows her to assess what is and is not suitable for her area.
“It allows me to see what is being done in other areas and how good projects can be applied in our cities. I support mixed and affordable housing and that support be given to businesses such as the cafeteria (El Cafetero) where we are now,” he explained, and assured that he has always advocated strongly to ensure that new buildings offer affordable rental apartments for community residents.
For this election there will be a primary election and the voice and vote of the entire community will be important. Ximena Francella is working hard for her candidacy for the primaries and assures that with her they will have a person with a lot of will to work.
She is co-chair of Westchester Hispanic Democrats, a member of Planned Parenthood, the New Rochelle and Larchmont Chambers of Commerce, and is part of several grassroots community organizations.
