Opens its Waiting List
Monday, June 27, 2022 – Wednesday, July 13, 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that The Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program announces the acceptance of preliminary applications for housing assistance during the dates of June 27, 2022 through July 13, 2022. The waiting list will close immediately following the aforementioned timeframe.
Pre-applications will be accepted in person at the Central Office located at 1511 Central Park Avenue Yonkers, NY 10710 and by mail postmarked by July 13, 2022 11:59 pm ET. Applicants do not need to rush to apply as this waiting list is not on a first- come, first-served basis. All pre-applicants will have an equal opportunity of being selected. Three Thousand (3,000) qualified applicants will be placed on the list by random lottery. The lottery will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 and Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Yonkers Riverfront Library. The drawings will be livestreamed on MHACY’s Facebook page and monitored by an independent auditor.
Applicants can download the pre-application at www.mhacy.org or pick up the pre-application at any of the following locations during office hours:
- MHACY Administration Office – 1511 Central Park Avenue
- Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Yonkers Riverfront Library – 1 Larkin Center
- Yonkers Grinton Will Library – 1500 Central Park Avenue
- Westchester Disabled on the Move, Inc. – 984 North Broadway Suite 400
- Family Service Society of Yonkers – 30 South Broadway
- City of Yonkers Department of Veteran Services – 120 New Main Street
- The Office for the Aging – Peter Chema Center 435 Riverdale Avenue
All income-eligible households may submit a pre-application. Program admission and/or assistance are based on verification of income and other eligibility requirements. In order to qualify, your total household income for all family members must be below the maximum income levels, based on family size as follows:
Family Size Income Limits established by HUD: (income limits are current and subject to change)
1 person – $48,550
2 people – $55,450
3 people – $62,400
4 people – $69,300
5 people – $74,850
6 people – $80,400
7 people – $85,950
8 people – $91,500
