Christopher de Jesús Liranzo Paulino, was born to succeed. After graduating in electrical engineering and obtaining a master’s degree in electrical energy systems, he decided to enter the business world in a field that was not directly related to his professional career, but which he learned on the job.
The young 29-year-old businessman, of Dominican origin, explains that he worked for a phone company in Manhattan, learned well about cell phone service and together with his wife two and a half years ago they decided to start a business.
“It wasn’t easy at first and we pretty much started from scratch with little capital,” Christopher said at his Total Wireless cell phone and phone service store in White Plains.
Liranzo Paulino, who assures that he happily eats his “flagship” dish with meat, rice and beans, imagining that it is like the one served in the Dominican Republic (because it is not the same as the one eaten there, due to the ingredients), explained that He decided to open his business to provide a specialized service to the immigrant community, since many need to make calls to their relatives in their countries of origin and when traveling to Latin America they have problems with their phones.
“They go to T-Mobile, Metro or another company and they don’t have unlimited international calls to their country, they don’t have roaming when they travel to their country and we do offer that. And we offer packages with these unlimited services to provide the best for our clients”, said engineer Liranzo Paulino.
In mobile telephony, the term roaming is used to indicate the possibility offered to its customers by an operator, to use the service on a mobile network other than their own, and normally outside the national territory. This identification is done through the SIM card, which allows the customer to connect with their operator from another network through agreements between operators.
After buying his first business in White Plains, they saw the need for Hispanics in Port Chester, New Rochelle and surrounding areas, and decided with his wife to open other stores in Westchester County’s Latino-concentrated areas.
He currently has Total Wireless cell stores in New Rochelle, White Plains, Mount Kisco Port Chester, and then 2 stores in New York City, one in Queens and one in Manhattan.
Help immigrants
One of the rules of his Liramar company establishments, which are two syllables each taken from his and his wife’s surnames, is to facilitate the service to immigrants who are not asked for personal identification or their social security data. .
“When they come to buy, I don’t ask them their social security, they are only asked their full name and the service is given to them,” said the young businessman who offers unlimited international calls to any country in Latin America through Total Wireless. We also have services for Europe, with a certain number of minutes and unlimited internet, family plans.
Personalized attention
Liramar Wireless offers a personalized service and the owner of the business offers all his clients his direct line and cell phone, which he himself answers to help his users with any concerns.
“The client can call me on my personal telephone number and they will receive attention from the owner who will solve his concerns immediately,” he said.
Another advantage of Total Wireless is that they offer the lowest costs when it comes to cell phones.
“Unlike other stores, they are not going to find a cheaper phone because I don’t beat them, that is, my approach is not to sell them the phone but the service,” said Christopher, who offers all kinds of cell phones and all available models. “I assure you that our phones are the cheapest, you can go to any of our stores, and soon we will open a store in Peekskill.”
The Liranzo spouses met when they were 17 years old and always had the idea of creating a business together. The young engineer wanted to open a hardware store for electrical products and they even had the name of the business ready.
“The name of the company was Liramar, Lira de Liranzo for me and Mar for my wife’s last name, which is Marte. The hardware store was going to be called Liramar at the time, but what changed was the item and not the name”. Now the company is called, the same, Liramar, but dedicated to mobile telephony.
I invite the entire community to visit the Total Wireless stores, said the Dominican engineer. “I’m always in White Plains because I like this store that paved the way for us,” he said.
“It solves everything for them. The only thing I can’t do is save their life or an emergency, and in those cases I tell them to call 911.”
