Construction company The Hudson Companies purchased a parcel of land in Port Chester, located at 27-45 North Main St. and 28 Adee St., to construct a 203-unit mixed-income residential, retail, and space for a community agency.

The property will feature a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes. That’s about 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a new location for the Westchester Human Development Service, a nonprofit social services organization, construction company executives said.

A portion of the 203 new homes will be affordable for families earning 60 percent of the area median income, according to Hudson officials.

In addition to housing and commercial spaces, the building will also feature a gym and outdoor patios, officials said.

“As we continue to face a statewide housing crisis, now more than ever, we are focused on expanding our reach into underserved markets to offer quality homes in desirable locations. Through our innovative partnership with two of New York City’s largest pension systems, we are delighted to offer 203 quality homes, retail and community spaces to residents of Port Chester,” said Hudson Companies Director Joe Riggs.

The construction company was drawn to Port Chester due to its proximity to public transportation and the diverse character of this village.

“We were drawn to Port Chester not only because of its transit links to New York City, White Plains and Greenwich, but also because of its vibrancy. Port Chester is home to a diverse community and a wonderful walkable downtown with many dining and nightlife options. We see that even outside the big cities, people are increasingly looking for opportunities to make their homes in places like this”, said an executive of the building company.
